The Castle Hall
The Castle Hall is likely to have had many functions over the centuries since Ulfstand lived in the castle. Its primary use was probably as a dining hall and common room for the castle’s soldiers and workers.
The hall would certainly have been used as a reception room and for more formal gatherings, such as a court-leet, a local court in which the lord of the manor dispensed justice. The thick walls are also a reminder of the castle’s defensive function. Perhaps a scene like this may have played out during Jens Holgersen Ulfstand’s time?
