Theme: The medieval kitchen
What did the people of Glimmingehus eat and drink during the late Middle Ages—and how was the food prepared? These aromatic experiences await you in our atmospheric roasting house, where food has been prepared for centuries.
We are joined by Daniel Serra, a culinary archaeologist, who will guide us through the flavors, dishes, and archaeological finds of the medieval era in search of the food culture of the time. Daniel has studied recipes, texts, and archaeological discoveries to recreate medieval culinary experiences and concepts, ranging from everyday meals to festive feasts.
We will roast meat on a spit and make *äggost* (a traditional curd cheese)! Try your hand at churning butter, grinding flour, and making mustard. Help the squire set the lord’s table and prepare water for hand-washing!
