Theme: Weapons, armour & archery

Now our popular theme days for the summer are starting! During these we dive deep into an exciting and educational topic that clearly belonged at the site in the late Middle Ages.

First up is the visitor favorite weapons, armor & archery! Over two afternoons, you will be given a full insight into the lives of medieval soldiers. You can try making chain mail, shooting archery, measuring your strength in fighting games, painting your coat of arms, and practicing for a tournament.

Children who are eager to become soldiers can carry out a number of small tasks such as attending fencing school and then be paid and enrolled in the castle courtyard in high spirits!

Glimmingehus began to be built by the knight and naval warrior Jens Holgersen Ulfstand in 1499 and is the perfect place for this fun theme! The defense here was heavy – a moat with a drawbridge, trapdoors, loopholes and loopholes in the castle stairs, as well as an entire floor for the soldiers high up – the so-called shooting loft.
